Anthurium Soil Mix – Chunky Aroid Potting Mix for Indoor Plants
Anthurium Soil Mix – Chunky Aroid Potting Mix for Indoor Plants
Give your Anthuriums an airy, moisture-balanced growing environment with our handcrafted Anthurium Soil Mix, specially formulated for indoor containers.
Why This Mix Works
Anthuriums are tropical plants native to Central and South America. Many species grow naturally as epiphytes, with their roots attached to moss-covered bark and other organic material rather than dense soil.
Our Anthurium Mix is designed to provide those roots with both moisture and plenty of air while adapting the mix for indoor container growing. Pine bark and coco husk provide structure and airflow, while coco coir and sphagnum moss help maintain moisture between waterings. Perlite and pumice improve drainage, while horticultural charcoal helps maintain an open, well-structured mix. Worm castings add organic matter and gentle nutrition.
Ingredients
Coco Coir • Pine Bark • Coco Husk Chips • Perlite • Pumice • Sphagnum Moss • Horticultural Charcoal • Worm Castings
Best For
Our Anthurium potting mix is formulated for:
- Anthurium andraeanum
- Anthurium scherzerianum
- Anthurium crystallinum
- Anthurium clarinervium
- Anthurium veitchii
- Other Anthurium varieties
- Other tropical plants and aroids that prefer a chunky, airy growing medium
Suggested Watering
Check the mix before watering rather than following a fixed schedule. Water when the top 1–2 inches of the mix have begun to dry, then water thoroughly until excess water drains completely.
Anthuriums prefer consistent moisture but should never remain soggy or sit in standing water. During winter or periods of slower growth, allow more time between waterings.

Fertilizing
Feed during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the manufacturer's recommended rate. Reduce feeding during periods of slower winter growth or lower light.
Repotting
Repot when roots begin filling the container, growing from the drainage holes, or when the plant begins drying out much faster than usual. Move to a pot only one size larger to avoid leaving excess wet soil around the roots. After repotting, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.
