Ficus Soil Mix – Balanced Potting Mix for Indoor Plants
Ficus Soil Mix – Balanced Potting Mix for Indoor Plants
Give your Ficus a balanced growing environment with our handcrafted Ficus Soil Mix, specially formulated for indoor containers.
Why This Mix Works
Ficus are woody plants native to tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Unlike many climbing aroids, most indoor Ficus grow as upright trees or shrubs with a more traditional root system.
Our Ficus Mix is formulated for the realities of indoor container growing. Coco coir helps maintain moderate moisture, while pine bark, perlite, and pumice provide drainage and air space around the roots. A small amount of horticultural charcoal helps maintain an open mix, while worm castings add organic matter and gentle nutrition.
The result is a balanced growing medium that holds enough moisture for indoor Ficus without staying wet around the roots.
Ingredients
Coco Coir • Pine Bark • Perlite • Pumice • Horticultural Charcoal • Worm Castings
Best For
Our Ficus potting mix is formulated for:
- Ficus elastica (Rubber Plant)
- Ficus lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig)
- Ficus benjamina (Weeping Fig)
- Ficus microcarpa
- Ficus altissima
- Other indoor Ficus varieties
- Other woody tropical and subtropical container plants that prefer a balanced, well-draining growing medium
Suggested Watering
Check the mix before watering rather than following a fixed schedule. Water thoroughly when the upper 1–2 inches of the mix have begun to dry, then allow excess water to drain completely.
Avoid keeping the mix constantly wet. During winter or periods of slower growth and lower light, allow more time between waterings.

Fertilizing
Feed during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the manufacturer's recommended rate. Reduce feeding during periods of slower winter growth or lower light.
Repotting
Repot when roots begin filling the container, growing from the drainage holes, or when the plant begins drying out much faster than usual. Move to a pot only one size larger to avoid leaving excess wet soil around the roots. After repotting, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.
