Why This Mix Works

Hoyas are tropical and subtropical climbing or trailing plants that naturally grow in warm, humid environments. Many species have thick, fleshy leaves and roots that benefit from good access to air.

Our Hoya Mix is designed to provide excellent drainage and root airflow while still holding enough moisture for indoor growing. Pine bark, coco husk, perlite, pumice, and horticultural charcoal create an open structure, while coco coir and worm castings provide moderate moisture retention.

The result is an airy growing medium that helps balance moisture and airflow around Hoya roots without keeping the mix constantly wet.

Suggested Watering

Check the mix before watering rather than following a fixed schedule. Water thoroughly when the mix has become fairly dry, then allow excess water to drain completely.

Avoid keeping the mix constantly wet or allowing the plant to sit in standing water. During winter or periods of slower growth, allow more time between waterings, but avoid leaving the mix completely dry for extended periods.
