Jasmine Potting Mix

Rich, Moisture-Balanced Mix for Healthy Roots & Beautiful Blooms

Give your Jasmine plants a growing environment designed around their natural preference for consistent moisture, excellent drainage, and healthy root aeration.

Jasmines are beautiful flowering shrubs and climbing vines prized for their delicate blooms, attractive foliage, and often wonderfully fragrant flowers. From Arabian Jasmine and Pink Jasmine to Common Jasmine and Star Jasmine, these popular ornamental plants thrive when their roots receive the right balance of moisture, nutrients, and oxygen.

Jasmines grow best in a fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained root environment. Container-grown plants need enough moisture to support active growth and flowering, while their roots still require good aeration and should never remain continuously saturated.

Our Jasmine Mix is formulated specifically for container growing. Coco coir and peat moss help maintain even moisture between waterings, while fine pine bark provides organic structure and air space. Perlite and pumice improve drainage and long-lasting porosity, while calcined clay helps buffer moisture and nutrients. A small amount of worm castings provides organic matter and gentle nutrition.

The result is a rich, airy, moisture-balanced growing medium designed to support healthy roots, vigorous vines or shrubs, and abundant flowering.

Why This Mix Works

Made for Jasmine Plants
Formulated specifically for container-grown Jasmine varieties, providing the moisture, drainage, and root aeration needed to support healthy growth and flowering.

Balanced Moisture Retention
Coco coir and peat moss help maintain consistent moisture between waterings without creating an excessively heavy or waterlogged growing medium.

Excellent Drainage & Root Aeration
Fine pine bark, perlite, and pumice create an open structure that allows excess water to drain freely while maintaining essential air space around the roots.

Durable Structure & Gentle Nutrition
Calcined clay helps maintain porosity and buffer moisture and nutrients, while worm castings contribute organic matter and gentle nutrition to support healthy plant development.

Ingredients

Coco Coir • Peat Moss • Pine Bark • Perlite • Pumice • Calcined Clay • Worm Castings

Best For

Arabian Jasmine • Jasminum sambac • Pink / Chinese Jasmine • Jasminum polyanthum • Common Jasmine • Jasminum officinale • Spanish / Royal Jasmine • Jasminum grandiflorum • Winter Jasmine • Jasminum nudiflorum • Other Container-Grown Jasminum Species

Also suitable for Star Jasmine / Trachelospermum jasminoides.

Star Jasmine is not a true Jasminum, but it has similar container-growing requirements and can also benefit from this moisture-balanced, well-draining mix.

Whether you're growing fragrant Arabian Jasmine indoors, training a climbing Jasmine along a trellis, or caring for a flowering Star Jasmine in an outdoor container, this specialty mix provides a growing environment designed around their root requirements.

Suggested Watering

Check the mix regularly rather than following a fixed watering schedule.

Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the mix has begun to dry, allowing excess water to drain freely from the container.

During active spring and summer growth, container-grown Jasmine generally prefers consistent moisture without remaining continuously wet.

Plants may require more frequent watering during warm, sunny, or windy conditions, particularly while actively producing new growth and flowers.

Avoid allowing the entire root ball to become excessively dry for extended periods during active growth.

During cooler weather or periods of slower growth, reduce watering frequency.

Tender indoor Jasmines generally require substantially less water during winter than during active spring and summer growth.

Watering frequency will vary depending on plant variety, container size, drainage, sunlight, temperature, humidity, and seasonal conditions.

Never leave the container standing in water.

Fertilizing

Jasmine benefits from regular feeding during active growth and flowering.

For container-grown plants, use a fertilizer suitable for flowering plants according to the manufacturer's recommended rate.

A fertilizer formulated to support flowering can help provide the nutrients needed for healthy plant development and bloom production.

Regular moderate feeding during active growth can support vigorous stems, healthy foliage, and flowers.

Avoid excessive fertilization, which can contribute to fertilizer salt buildup and unnecessary root stress.

Because this mix contains only a modest amount of worm castings, supplemental fertilizer will still be needed for long-term container growth.

Reduce or discontinue feeding during periods of slower winter growth.

Repotting

Repot when roots have substantially filled the container, drainage has slowed, or the plant begins drying unusually quickly between waterings.

Move into a container only one pot size larger at a time rather than dramatically increasing the amount of growing medium around the roots.

Oversized containers can retain unnecessary moisture around a relatively small root system.

Climbing Jasmines may also need a trellis, hoop, or other sturdy support as they mature.

When repotting, handle the roots carefully and position the plant at approximately the same depth it was growing previously.

Always use a container with unobstructed drainage holes.

Fertilizing

Feed during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the manufacturer's recommended rate. Reduce feeding during periods of slower winter growth or lower light.

Repotting

Repot when roots begin filling the container, growing from the drainage holes, or when the plant begins drying out much faster than usual. Move to a pot only one size larger to avoid leaving excess wet soil around the roots. After repotting, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.
