Peace Lily Potting Mix

Rich, Moisture-Balanced Mix for Healthy Roots, Lush Foliage & Beautiful Blooms

Give your Peace Lily a growing environment designed around its natural preference for consistent moisture, excellent drainage, and healthy root aeration.

Peace Lilies, scientifically known as Spathiphyllum, are popular tropical houseplants prized for their glossy green foliage, elegant white flower-like spathes, and graceful growth.

Peace Lilies grow best in a rich, moisture-retentive yet well-drained root environment that stays evenly moist without remaining continuously saturated.

Our Peace Lily Mix is formulated specifically for container growing. Coco coir and peat moss provide reliable moisture retention, while fine pine bark creates organic structure and air space. Perlite and pumice improve drainage and long-lasting porosity, while vermiculite helps maintain even moisture around the plant's dense root system. A small amount of worm castings contributes organic matter and gentle nutrition.

The result is a fertile, moisture-balanced, airy growing medium designed to support healthy roots, lush foliage, and strong flowering without keeping the root zone excessively wet.

Why This Mix Works

Made for Peace Lilies
Formulated specifically for container-grown Spathiphyllum, providing the consistent moisture, drainage, and root aeration these tropical houseplants prefer.

Consistent Moisture Retention
Coco coir, peat moss, and vermiculite help maintain moderate, even moisture between waterings without creating an excessively dense or waterlogged growing medium.

Excellent Drainage & Root Aeration
Fine pine bark, perlite, and pumice create an open structure that allows excess water to drain freely while maintaining essential air space around the root system.

Rich Organic Structure & Gentle Nutrition
Worm castings contribute organic matter and gentle nutrition to support healthy foliage, root development, and flowering.

Ingredients

Coco Coir • Peat Moss • Pine Bark • Perlite • Pumice • Vermiculite • Worm Castings

Best For

Peace Lily • Spathiphyllum • Spathiphyllum wallisii • Mauna Loa Peace Lily • Sensation Peace Lily • Domino Peace Lily • Picasso Peace Lily • Petite Peace Lily • Other Container-Grown Spathiphyllum Varieties

Whether you're growing a traditional Peace Lily in a decorative container, a large Sensation Peace Lily as a statement houseplant, or a beautiful variegated Domino or Picasso variety, this specialty mix provides a growing environment designed around their root requirements.

Suggested Watering

Check the mix regularly rather than following a fixed watering schedule.

Keep the growing medium moderately and consistently moist, but never continuously saturated.

Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the mix begins to dry, allowing excess water to drain freely from the container.

Peace Lilies generally prefer more consistent moisture than many common houseplants.

Avoid repeatedly allowing the entire root ball to become severely dry, as prolonged moisture stress can affect foliage health and overall growth.

At the same time, avoid keeping the root zone continuously saturated, as prolonged wet conditions can reduce oxygen around the roots and contribute to root problems.

During warm weather and periods of active growth, Peace Lilies may require more frequent watering, particularly in brighter indoor conditions.

Reduce watering somewhat during cooler weather, lower-light conditions, or periods of slower growth.

Watering frequency will vary depending on plant size, container material, drainage, light, temperature, humidity, and seasonal conditions.

Never allow the container to remain standing in water.

Fertilizing

Peace Lilies require only light to moderate feeding.

During active growth, use a balanced houseplant fertilizer at a reduced strength according to the manufacturer's directions.

Appropriate feeding can help support healthy green foliage, new leaves, and flower development.

Avoid excessive fertilization. Peace Lilies can be sensitive to fertilizer salts, and heavy feeding may contribute to brown leaf tips or root stress.

Because this mix contains only a small amount of worm castings, supplemental fertilizer may be useful for long-term container growth.

Reduce or discontinue feeding during cooler weather or periods of slower growth.

Repotting

Repot when roots have substantially filled the container, drainage has slowed, or the plant begins drying unusually quickly between waterings.

Peace Lilies generally tolerate being somewhat snug in their containers and do not require frequent repotting.

Move into a container only one pot size larger at a time rather than dramatically increasing the amount of growing medium around the roots.

Oversized containers can retain unnecessary moisture around a relatively small root system.

Mature Peace Lilies often develop dense root systems and may eventually benefit from repotting or division.

When repotting, handle the roots carefully and keep the crown of the plant at approximately the same depth it was growing previously.

Always use a container with unobstructed drainage holes.

Fertilizing

Feed during active growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer according to the manufacturer's recommended rate. Reduce feeding during periods of slower winter growth or lower light.

Repotting

Repot when roots begin filling the container, growing from the drainage holes, or when the plant begins drying out much faster than usual. Move to a pot only one size larger to avoid leaving excess wet soil around the roots. After repotting, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.
